Bagnaia Beach is the largest and best-equipped beach along this stretch of coast, completely integrated with the charming seaside hamlet just behind it. It lies in a beautiful natural setting, dominated by the impressive Volterraio Castle and nearby forested hills.
The beach is about 300 meters long, made of multi-colored pebbles and sand, with clear waters and gently sloping pebble seabeds — ideal for families, relaxation, and water sports.
Bagnaia is a great starting point for snorkeling and boat, kayak or SUP excursions toward the wild northern beaches of Elba: Zupignano, Le Secche, Nisporto, Nisportino (also accessible by land), Rivercina and Mangani.
Facilities include beach clubs, boat docks, rental of watercraft and a sailing school. Along the promenade you will find cafés, restaurants, shops, a newsstand, and a grocery store.
The wide Bay of Bagnaia opens toward Portoferraio, offering a fantastic view of its old town, Medici fortresses, and lighthouse.
How to get there
From Portoferraio, take the road to Porto Azzurro and turn left after approx. 4 km towards Bagnaia. Continue for another 4 km following signs to the beach.
Both free roadside parking and paid car parks are available near the beach.

Dove si trova: La spiaggia di Bagnaia è la più ampia e attrezzata di questo tratto di costa, direttamente collegata al piccolo borgo che la sovrasta. È incastonata in un paesaggio naturale di grande fascino, dominato dal Castello del Volterraio e dalle colline ricoperte di macchia mediterranea.
Come arrivare: Da Portoferraio, seguire la provinciale in direzione Porto Azzurro e svoltare a sinistra dopo circa 4 km per Bagnaia. Proseguire per altri 4 km fino alle indicazioni della spiaggia.
Sono presenti parcheggi liberi lungo la strada e parcheggi a pagamento nei pressi del mare.
