The business in its current form dates back to 1975, when the bar was taken over by the Cassi brothers, who have managed it ever since. However, the presence of a gathering place in this location is even older: the building has hosted a social venue since the early 20th century, later becoming a proper bar under the current management.
Thanks to its location along the route connecting the port to the town center, Bar Astra is a natural stop for those arriving in or moving around Rio Marina. Most of its activity is concentrated during the tourist season, from Easter to the end of October, when the town welcomes a larger number of visitors.
The bar offers a service that suits different moments of the day. The menu includes breakfasts, aperitifs, savory snacks, and cocktails, while at lunchtime it serves focaccia, sandwiches, and quick dishes designed for an informal break.
In addition to its indoor spaces, the venue extends into the square in front, where outdoor seating is set up during the summer. At this time, the square becomes one of the liveliest spots in town, helping make Bar Astra a popular meeting point for both locals and tourists.
