Bar Ristorante Da Cipolla

Ristorante Da Cipolla is located in the main square of Rio nell’Elba, overlooking Piazza del Popolo, in a central position facing the Church of Saints Giacomo and Quirico. The venue represents a historic presence in the life of the village: the restaurant business began about sixty years ago, and in 2026 it celebrates 50 years under the name “Da Cipolla.”

The name of the restaurant comes from a family nickname linked to the current owner Davide’s grandfather, who was a sailor. As often happens in local traditions, the nickname stayed with the family over time and eventually came to identify the restaurant itself, becoming part of its story.

The venue offers both bar and restaurant services. The restaurant is mainly active from spring to autumn, from Easter until November, while during the winter months the activity focuses on the bar, which remains a meeting point for residents and visitors.

The cuisine is Mediterranean, with particular attention to traditional dishes from Elba. Among the restaurant’s specialties are local recipes such as tonnina, sburrita di baccalà, gurguglione, and stockfish, often paired with wines from Elba Island, selected to enhance the flavors of the territory.

The restaurant features an outdoor terrace overlooking the square, a space especially appreciated during the summer season. From here, guests can dine while observing village life and the façade of the church, in a calm and charming setting. The interiors, furnished in a simple and traditional style, reflect the authentic character of the place.

Alongside the restaurant service, the bar offers coffee, aperitifs, and digestifs, making the venue an informal meeting point throughout the day and evening.

Thanks to its long history, central location, and cuisine rooted in local tradition, Da Cipolla is now one of the historic restaurants of Rio nell’Elba, frequented by both residents and visitors to the island.
