Cala delle Alghe Beach

Cala delle Alghe (also known as Cala dell’Alga) is a small and wild natural cove located just north of Cavo Beach. It offers breathtaking views across the Gulf of Piombino and toward the tiny islands of Cerboli and Palmaiola.

The cove is narrow and intimate, with sand and gravel, while the back section is naturally covered with beached Posidonia. On the northern side, striking striped rock formations shape a second tiny beach, perfect for diving, swimming, and snorkeling among crystal-clear waters and fascinating seabeds.

Sheltered inside the bay and exposed only to eastern winds, the sea is typically calm and incredibly clear, making it great for both families and underwater enthusiasts.

There are no facilities directly on the beach, but all services are available nearby in Cavo.

A peaceful spot, cherished by locals — ideal for those seeking nature, quiet, and relaxation.

How to get there

Though very close to the village, the access is not well marked.
From the Cavo seafront, head north toward Frugoso Beach (Via Bernardo Procchi).
Once at the pinewood with paid parking, turn right into Via Capo Castello, then after about 200 meters turn right again and follow the short pedestrian path leading down to the cove.
