Cavina Beach

Cavina Beach, also known as Spiaggia della Cabina, is located in the Vigneria area within the municipality of Rio. This small and charming stretch of coastline is steeped in local history and memory. Overlooking the eastern side of the Island of Elba, the cove holds special significance for the Rio community and represents an important chapter in the area’s mining heritage.

The beach lies beside Vigneria’s imposing historic mining pier, a remarkable example of industrial archaeology once used to load iron ore and other minerals directly onto ships. The remains of nearby mining structures and the surrounding geological landscape give the beach a unique and evocative atmosphere, where the beauty of the natural coastline is inextricably intertwined with the memory of local work and traditions.

The shoreline consists of dark gravel and pebbles, displaying the distinctive shimmering reflections of iron-bearing minerals. It overlooks clear turquoise waters, making it an ideal destination for those wishing to explore the coast from a historical and scenic perspective.

From the beach, the view stretches across the Piombino Channel, offering an authentic and distinctive panorama over one of the most fascinating stretches of coastline on the entire island.
