Nestled in the tranquillity of the countryside, just outside the town centre, the Fonte Coppi is one of the many natural springs that characterise the area. This simple yet evocative spot is linked to a fascinating chapter in the history of Italian sport.
The spring takes its name from Fausto Coppi, the famous cycling champion, who, during the summer of 1956 whilst on holiday on the Island of Elba, used to stop here every day during his training sessions to fill his water bottle with the fresh water from the spring.
Today, the Coppi Spring is a destination of interest for sports enthusiasts, walkers and visitors keen to discover an authentic corner of the area, where nature and historical memory come together in a simple and genuine way.
