Hotel Rio sul Mare is located in the historic center of Rio Marina, on the north-eastern side of Elba Island, overlooking the sea of the “Shining Coast,” renowned for its rich mineral heritage that has shaped the island’s history, traditions, and landscape. From black beaches that sparkle with iron to colorful cliffs, from the remains of mining archaeology to a culinary tradition rooted in miners’ daily life, this area tells a unique story.
The public washhouse was once a place of social gathering for women, who would meet there to do their laundry. In the past, miners would also stop here after work to wash before returning home.
