Topinetti Beach

Topinetti Beach, on the eastern coast of Elba Island, is part of the historic Rio Marina mining district and still displays a wild, natural charm. Almost 200 meters long, it is famous for the striking contrast between its dark, iron-rich sand and the white pebbles scattered along the shore — a reminder of the nearby Rio Albano mine.

The surrounding environment is highly scenic: on one side the Mediterranean scrubland, on the other the cliffs glowing with bright red and yellow hues, coloured by the minerals beneath, along with the remains of an old loading pier that recall the area’s industrial past.

The seabed is pebbly and gradually sloping, with clear blue waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The view stretches across the sea to Cerboli, Palmaiola, the Tuscan coast, and even Giglio and Argentario on clear days.

Topinetti is ideal for both peaceful beach days and for those who wish to explore a beach closely tied to Elba’s mining heritage.
