The ‘La Natività di Rio Castello’ Mechanical Nativity Scene is one of the village’s most evocative attractions, open to visitors all year round inside the Church of the Souls in Purgatory outside the town gate. Created and maintained by a group of volunteers, the nativity scene offers an animated reconstruction of Rio as it was in centuries past, depicting the daily life of the village and its deep connection with the mining activities that have shaped its history.
